Offer goods protection at checkout.

Customers choose a protection plan when they book, and it is billed with their licence fee.

A protection plan is a liability waiver: you agree to take on liability for a customer’s goods, up to an amount you state.

Illustration: the Extras & protection step of a customer’s booking on the operator’s website. Under Cover for your goods, charged every month alongside the licence fee, the customer chooses No cover or one of two plans: Standard protection, £4.00 a month for cover up to £2,000.00, or Extra protection, £9.00 a month for cover up to £5,000.00. Standard protection is selected. Prices include VAT.

How goods protection works.

See who has protection.

  • A register lists each customer with a plan: which plan, its price, and its start and end dates.
  • Customers you have recorded as arranging their own protection are listed too.
  • Narrow it to one site, one plan or a date range, and download it as a CSV or a PDF.
  • You set the plans and the amounts yourself.
  • The charge is a line on the licence fee’s invoice, so there is nothing extra to collect.

Jo Carter, Unit 12, has Standard protection, a waiver sold at the website, at £4.00 every billing period. Hannah Price, Unit 7, has Extra protection, a waiver, at £9.00 a month. Tom Hughes, Unit 21, has their own cover. The register can be downloaded as a PDF or a CSV.

Questions about goods protection.

No. A protection plan is a waiver you offer yourself, so the liability is yours, up to the amount you set for the plan. No outside company is involved.
