Storman alternatives for UK operators

Alongside Storman, we checked seven platforms sold to UK self storage operators: StoreBay, which wrote this page, then 6Storage, Kinnovis, SiteLink, Space Manager, Stora and Storeganise. The right one depends on why you are looking. Storman’s UK terms run month to month after the first term your Quote sets; either side can end them on at least 30 days’ written notice before a term ends. Checked 13 October 2026.

StoreBay wrote this page and is one of the seven. No platform paid to appear, and there are no affiliate links.

02 / Why compare

Why operators compare Storman

Storman is rated 4.4 from 9 reviews on Capterra UK, all dated between 2016 and 2021. It quotes on request, so most of what an operator weighs is in its own pages, its blog and its UK terms, which are set out first. All were read on 13 October 2026.

What Storman’s own pages and terms say

  1. 01

Pricing is on request, in bands by sites and units

We found no price list for its software on Storman’s website. We tried storman.com/pricing, which answers with an error page, and its calls to action are to get a quote or request a demonstration. Capterra UK’s listing shows a starting price in Australian dollars, which we do not print. Storman’s blog says the monthly price is based on the number of sites and units, in bands that each match a flat monthly fee, and that it does not mandate long-term contracts. Its UK terms say the fee is the one in your Quote, and that prices in the Quote exclude VAT unless it says otherwise.

  2. 02

The first term is in your Quote, then it runs month to month

Storman’s UK terms make the first term the period your Quote states, or one month if it states none. After that the agreement continues month to month, and either side can end it at the end of the first term or of any monthly renewal term by giving at least 30 days’ written notice. An older contract may carry different terms, so read the one you signed.

  3. 03

A fee can change at a renewal, and other terms can change on 45 days’ notice

For a recurring fee that is a set amount, Storman’s UK terms let it vary the fee for any renewal term on at least 45 days’ written notice before that term starts. To refuse the new fee you must end the agreement before that term starts, with at least 30 days’ written notice. It can change other terms on at least 45 days’ written notice unless the change is needed to comply with law or is not to your detriment. If a detrimental change takes effect during a term, you can end the agreement on the day it takes effect by telling it within 15 days. A notice from it counts as received once it is posted on its service or website, so watch the notices in Storman Cloud.

  4. 04

    Invoices, interest and suspension

Its UK terms make fees payable within 30 days of receiving an invoice, or by an earlier date if your Quote sets one, and let Storman invoice all fees in advance unless your Quote or the terms say otherwise. It can charge interest on amounts unpaid after the due date at 3% above the Bank of England base rate, or the maximum rate the law permits if that is lower, accruing daily and compounded quarterly. If you do not pay within 7 days of its notice asking for payment it can suspend the service until you have paid in full, and if you still have not paid within 14 days of that notice it can end the agreement by further written notice.

  5. 05

Your data: 30 days after the agreement ends

Its UK terms say Storman will treat your customer content as your property, subject to the clause on what happens when the agreement ends. You in turn grant it a perpetual, worldwide and irrevocable licence to use that content to provide the service, to analyse and improve it, and for any other purpose the agreement permits, and it may use de-identified content in aggregate for analysis and marketing. Subject to any applicable laws, you can ask for read-only access to the service for 30 days from the date the agreement ends, to transfer your data, and Storman reserves the right to charge its hourly market rates for help such as extracting it in a particular format. It has no obligation to keep your data after those 30 days and can delete it, and it gives you the same 30 days to access and copy personal data before deleting it. It takes a backup once in each 24 hours.

  6. 06

Where your data may be hosted or processed

Its terms list the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, and other territories where a hosting provider has a data centre or a support centre, as places where Storman or its sub-processors may process personal data, and name Fasthosts and Amazon Web Services as hosting providers. Its privacy policy says the personal information it holds “may be hosted on a cloud service within Australia”. The terms say Storman will not send personal data to countries outside the UK and the EEA without your written consent unless the law requires it, and also that you agree it may do so to provide the service, with appropriate safeguards to the extent data protection law requires them. Its website says its data is hosted locally, without naming the place. Ask Storman in writing where your own data is held.

  7. 07

Support hours, and what sits outside them

Its UK terms define business hours as 8:30am to 5pm London time, and support hours as the hours in its Product Support Program, subject to reasonable changes from time to time, with support in those hours carrying no additional charge. Its contact page gives email and phone support from 8:30AM to 5:00PM, Monday through Friday, while its locations page gives 8:00am to 5:00pm GMT and lists Saturday and Sunday as site-down only. Chat is reached from inside Storman Cloud, and its support portal and knowledge base are open at any time. Support it agrees to give outside support hours is charged at its time and materials rates.

  8. 08

A service credit, and which company you contract with

Its UK terms say Storman will use reasonable endeavours to keep the service available around the clock, and may suspend it for scheduled maintenance on reasonable notice. If it cannot provide the service for more than eighteen hours on a business day, or on consecutive business days, not counting scheduled maintenance or circumstances you caused or contributed to or that are beyond its reasonable control, it will credit your next fee for the time lost. They say that credit is your exclusive financial remedy for the service being unavailable, and that it does not apply to add-ons. The terms are with Storman Software Limited and are governed by the law of England and Wales. Its website footer names Storman Software Pty Ltd, so check which company your Quote names.

  9. 09

Payments run through Storman Payment Services

Storman’s UK site offers Direct Debit through Storman Payment Services, with one form to sign and no merchant account needed, funds cleared into your own business bank account, and the option to pass some or all of the processing fees on to your customers. It collects automatically from a customer’s bank account or card. We found no percentage rate on its payment pages. Its About page says Storman is part of the Global Payments group of companies.

  10. 10

We found nothing in its UK terms about who holds your mandates

We found no clause in Storman’s UK terms about Direct Debit, mandates, a merchant account or Storman Payment Services, so we cannot tell from them whose creditor identifier is on your Direct Debit mandates, or on what terms they can move. Ask Storman Payment Services in writing before you plan a move.

  11. 11

    Websites come from a partner

Storman’s UK site says its website packages are powered by its partner StorNow Digital, in a Growth and an Advanced plan, and that a StorNow Embedded Page can be inserted into an existing website by your current website provider. If your website is one of these, ask whose contract covers it, and who holds your domain and its hosting.

  12. 12

A REST API; we found no public documentation

Storman offers a REST API for connecting your website, apps and other tools to Storman Cloud. We found no API documentation, developer portal or webhooks on its UK website.

  13. 13

    Offices in the UK

And in New Zealand and Australia

What changed at Storman

  • On 3 February 2026 its blog published an article on what a REST API is and on how it says Storman’s REST API integrations help self storage operators.
  • On 9 August 2024 its blog said it had teamed up with APLYiD to bring ID verification of new customers into Storman.
  • On 19 July 2024 its blog described Move-Out Reservations, which lets users record a unit’s expected move-out date so that customers and staff can book it before the current occupier has left.
  • On 10 May 2024 its blog described using SMS in Storman Cloud for timely updates to customers and for real-time chats with them.
  • On 26 October 2022 its blog announced a tool in Storman Cloud that deletes customer information automatically after move-out.
  • On 28 September 2022 its blog announced that it was beginning to roll out two-way SMS in Storman Cloud, with customers’ replies coming back into the software.
  • In August 2021 its own customer story says its integration with Paxton Net2 was completed and certified by Paxton.

What Storman’s reviews say

All 9 of Storman’s reviews on Capterra UK were read and counted for what each says it likes and would change. A theme is printed when two or more reviews show it, and praise and requests for change sit side by side.

What reviewers praise

  • 4 of 9 reviews praise the support or the team
  • 3 of 9 reviews say it is easy to use or quick to learn
  • 2 of 9 reviews praise the automation or the time it saves
  • 2 of 9 reviews praise how it works with other software, payments or access control
  • 2 of 9 reviews praise how it shows what is happening in the business

What reviewers would change

No theme was shown by two or more reviews.

  • Shown by one review each, so counted but not listed: 2 praise and 2 would-change themes.
  • The 9 reviews run from 7 March 2016 to 5 May 2021, so all of them are more than five years old.
  • Storman answered 1 of the 9 reviews in public.
  • Capterra UK lists the reviewers’ countries as the United Kingdom, Australia, Thailand and the United States, so not every review is from the UK.
  • The reviews dated 12 August 2020 and 5 May 2021 both say that some features were still in development. The fixed list of themes has no theme for that, so it is not counted above, and nor is anything else a reviewer would change that fits none of the themes.

StoreBay is new and has no public reviews yet, so we have none to set beside these.

03 / When to stay

When staying on Storman makes sense

Storman’s own pages and listings show the strengths below, and StoreBay does not match some of them. If one is the reason you chose Storman, staying may suit you better than moving. Whichever way you lean, ask for your Quote and your latest fee notice in writing first.

Choose Storman if

  • You want a named list of access partners to check
  • You need a REST API now
  • You want a supplier with over 30 years’ experience

More that Storman’s own pages and listings show in its favour

Conversions from named systems

Storman says it can convert from Stora, Space Manager, Syrasoft, SiteLink, Winsen and many other packages.

Chat and phone support

Storman offers live chat in business hours, a support portal open 24/7, and email or phone support depending on your region. StoreBay’s support is by email.

04 / What to check

What to check in any Storman alternative

  1. 01

Which Storman you run, and which company your Quote names

Ask whether your sites run Storman Cloud, which its site says runs in a web browser with nothing to install, or older software: a UK customer story says it began on Storman One and moved across to Storman Cloud. Then check the company your Quote names against the one in its UK terms.

  2. 02

The date your first term ends, and the notice

Find the end of your first term in your Quote. After it, ending the agreement takes at least 30 days’ written notice before the end of a term, and a fee change takes at least 45 days’ written notice from Storman. StoreBay’s pricing page, for comparison, says the monthly plan has no minimum term and ends at the end of the month you cancel, and the 12-month plan is a 12-month commitment.

  3. 03

Your last invoice, line by line

Take your latest Storman invoice and your signed Quote. List the sites and units it bills for, each add-on, any payment-services or website line, the text message credits you top up, and the date each renews. Ask every platform to price the same list, with VAT shown separately: Storman’s Quote prices exclude VAT unless the Quote says otherwise, and adding sites or units takes an additional Quote.

  4. 04

Who holds your Direct Debits and cards

Storman’s UK site offers Direct Debit and card payments through Storman Payment Services, and we found nothing about them in its UK terms. Ask in writing whose creditor identifier is on your mandates, whether they can move, and whether saved cards can move to a new provider.

  5. 05

Your exact gate system, and the lock-out

Write down your gate or lock system, then check it against each platform’s list. Storman’s UK site lists named access partners, including Paxton, Nokē and PTI, and says overdue customers can be locked out and let back in once they have paid. Ask how that rule is set, and who can override it.

  6. 06

    Support hours and level

Ask what support your Quote gives, in hours and channels, and what you would have on the plan you move to. Storman’s phone and email support runs on weekdays, with weekends for a site that is down; chat sits inside Storman Cloud.

  7. 07

Where your data goes, and how it comes back

Ask where your data is held, how it comes back when you leave and in what format. Storman’s privacy policy says the personal information it holds may be hosted in Australia, and its terms give you 30 days after the agreement ends and let it charge hourly rates for help such as extracting data in a particular format. Check VAT invoices and licence-to-occupy wording in whatever you move to.

  8. 08

    Your website and domain

If your website is a StorNow Digital site, ask whose contract covers it, where the domain is registered and whether the site moves with you. A website that is not tied to your management software is easier to keep through a move.

05 / The alternatives

Storman alternatives, by situation

Listed by situation, never ranked. StoreBay comes first only because it wrote the page; the others follow in alphabetical order. Each of the three situations below is one where we did not find a full match on Storman’s own pages, so another platform may fit better there; they are not the only reasons to move. All eight platforms were checked for every situation, and a platform is listed under one only when its own pages support it.

08 / Leaving

Leaving Storman: notice, data, payments and cutover

The order below keeps your data, your payments and your customers safe. Check each step against your own Quote and the terms it names.

  1. 01

Read your Quote, then the terms

Storman’s UK terms make the first term the one your Quote states, then continue month to month, and either side can end them at the end of a term with at least 30 days’ written notice. Find the end of your first term in your Quote before you do anything else.

  2. 02

Give notice in writing, and keep proof

Its UK terms say notices to Storman must be in writing and sent to the notice address they name. An email counts as received when it is sent, unless you get an automated message within 4 hours that it was not delivered, and post counts as received 3 business days after sending. Keep proof of how and when you sent it.

Line the cutover up with the end of a month

Its UK terms make fees payable within 30 days of receiving an invoice, or by an earlier date if your Quote sets one, and let Storman invoice all fees in advance unless your Quote or the terms say otherwise. Where you can, plan the move so the last invoice you pay covers the last month you need, and remember that a fee change takes at least 45 days’ notice from it.

  4. 04

Export your data first, then settle the last invoice

Subject to any applicable laws, its UK terms give you 30 days from the date the agreement ends to ask for read-only access to transfer your data, and let Storman charge hourly rates for help such as extracting it in a particular format. Ask in writing, before you give notice, for a full export in the format your new platform needs, settle the last invoice, because it can suspend the service when payment is overdue after its notice, and keep a copy of your records and reports.

  5. 05

Keep the records the law requires

HMRC expects you to keep business records for VAT for at least 6 years, and a claim on a contract in England and Wales can be brought up to six years after it arises. Keep signed agreements, invoices and payment records for that long, including any held only in Storman Cloud.

  6. 06

Direct Debit: ask Storman Payment Services whose mandates they are

Storman’s UK site offers Direct Debit through Storman Payment Services, and we found nothing in its UK terms about who holds your mandates. Ask Storman Payment Services in writing whose creditor identifier is on your mandates and whether they can move, and ask your new platform whether it can collect through them. If your mandates are with GoCardless, it says a bulk change to another provider needs both sponsor banks to authorise it, comes with a pre-filled deed to complete, and can take 3-5 weeks; another provider’s process may differ. Plan the switch so no customer is charged twice or misses a month.

  7. 07

Saved cards: ask your payments provider

Storman’s UK site says its autopay collects automatically from a customer’s bank account or card. Ask Storman Payment Services and your new provider whether saved cards can move to a new account, and plan for any customer whose card cannot.

  8. 08

Gate codes: switch off the old access link

Note which gate or lock system you run and where its codes are kept. Storman’s UK site says overdue customers can be locked out and let back in once they have paid. At cutover, disconnect Storman from your gate system, so only one system changes who can get in.

  9. 09

    Website and booking links

If your site is a StorNow Digital site or uses a StorNow Embedded Page, find every link that opens a booking page and redirect each to the new booking pages. Ask whose account holds your domain and its hosting before you cancel anything, and update your Google Business Profile, ads and email links.

  10. 10

    Switch off the old automation

Storman’s UK site lists automated invoicing, late letters and fees, payments, receipts and gate lock-outs, and says text message credits are topped up through its support portal. On cutover day, turn off anything the old system still sends or charges: autopay collections, late letters and fees, text messages and lock-outs. Finish with a cutover-day checklist that covers payments, access, your website and your emails.

    Keep your own copy

Download the reports, invoices and records you want to keep before your account closes.

Moving from Storman to StoreBay

  • We bring your records across

Your customers, units and agreements come across in a guided import that our team runs with you.

  • You check before anything is saved

Every import runs as a dry run first, so you see exactly what will be created before anything is saved.

  • Payment details are planned separately

Saved cards and Direct Debit instructions don’t come across in the import. We plan that part with you before you switch.

Storman alternatives: common questions

There is no single best one. Alongside Storman we checked seven platforms: StoreBay, 6Storage, Kinnovis, SiteLink, Space Manager, Stora and Storeganise. The right choice depends on your gate system, how you want to be billed and whether you want a published price. Checked 13 October 2026.

10 / How we compared

How we compared, and our sources

What we read

On 13 October 2026 we read the public pages of Storman and of the seven other platforms in a browser, all on the same day, and kept a dated copy of each page. Whatever this page says about another platform comes from that platform’s public pages, its terms or a public register, except its reviews, which come from Capterra UK.

How its terms were read

Storman’s terms are the UK agreement its terms page links as “United Kingdom T&C’s”: a PDF printed from its help centre, with “09/08/2024, 16:05” at the top of each page. We found no version number, effective date or last-updated date in it, so ask which version your Quote refers to. An older contract may carry different terms, and the Quote is part of the agreement, so read both.

How prices were read

Storman quotes on request: we found no price list for its software on its website, so this page prints none, and estimates none. What it says about how it prices comes from its blog. Where this page prints another platform’s price, it is the price that platform publishes.

How reviews were counted

All 9 of Storman’s Capterra UK reviews were counted against a fixed list of 18 themes, which StoreBay wrote. Two separate AI passes labelled each review and did not differ on any label, a third AI read went over the doubts the passes named, and a script checks that the words each label rests on appear in its review. Praise is taken from a review’s overall and pros text and requests for change from its cons text, so praise written in a title or in the cons box is not counted, and a comment that fits none of the themes is not counted either. A theme is printed when two or more reviews show it; 2 praise and 2 would-change themes shown by one review each are counted but not listed. We do not quote reviewers.

How events are written

Events are printed only where a public register or the company’s own pages state them, in neutral words and with their date. For Storman we read the ten newest posts on its UK blog and printed the six that describe something its software does or a change to it. We left out its pricing post, which is covered with its terms, a post that names an individual and two posts of general security advice, and added the one customer story that dates an integration. We give no reasons or deal values and no names of individuals, and we print no register status or accounts filing.

Changes since the last check

None: first published 13 October 2026.

“No public evidence” is not “no”

When we can’t find something on a vendor’s public pages, we say exactly that and nothing stronger.

StoreBay’s column is what’s live today

StoreBay’s column describes the product as it is today. Anything we don’t offer is marked “No”.
